Background and interest
My research is devoted to the physics of liquids at mineral interfaces, in diverse situations: porous media, suspensions, granular matter, mineral materials ... My interest spans from theoretical questions to industrial problems. In this context, I am particularly interested in the coupling of the dissolution of a mineral surface with other fields: mechanical stress, hydrodynamic flow, evaporation …
Description of research in NanoHeal:
The project will focus on the individual and collective dynamics of atomic steps during growth or dissolution of a calcite surface confined by contacts at the nanometer-scale. This study aims at identifying the atomic scale mechanisms acting during crystal growth and dissolution, in presence and absence of calcium-complexing organics.
