Beneficiaries of European Union (EU) funding are obliged to display the EU flag and to acknowledge the support received under the relevant EU programmes in all communication and promotional material.

All publications of research results or information from EU-funded projects must be clearly marked with the EU-emblem (EU-flag) and information about the financial funding mechanism.

Previous audits from EU-projects have shown that the acknowledgement and use of logo have often been forgotten, and one should be aware that this may have financial consequences.

We therefore strongly advise all our partners to remember to appropriate acknowledge the EU-funding and use the EU-emblem.

In article 29.4 in the Grant Agreement you will find the correct text which needs to be on all publications. In addition, according to article 29.5 you need to include a "Disclaimer clause", saying that the publication reflects only the author's view and that the financial funding source is not responsible for the content.

29.4 Information on EU-funding. Obligation and right to use the EU-emblem

Unless the [Commission][Agency]requests or agrees otherwise or unless it is unpossible, any dissemination of results (in any form, including electronic) must:

(a) display the EU emblem and

(b) include the following text:

"This project has received funding from the [European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme][Euratom research and trainingprogramme 2014-2018] under grant agreement No [Number]".

When displayed together with another logo, the EU emblem must have appropriate prominence.

For the purposes under this Article, the beneficiaries may use the EU emblem without first obtaining approval from the [Commission][ Agency].

This does not however give them the right to exclusive use.

Moreover, they may not appropriate the EU emblem or any similar trademark or logo, either by registration or by any other means.

29.5 Disclaimer excluding [Commission][Agency] responsibility

Any dissemination of results must indicate that it reflects only the author's view and that the [Commission ][Agency] is not responsible for any use that may be made of the information it contains.
